Loud Blasts and Plumes of Smoke Reported in the Heart of Tehran
According to on-the-ground reports, two loud blasts were audible in Tehran on Saturday. Simultaneously, columns of dense smoke were observed rising over the centre and east of the Iranian capital.
“The type of explosions indicates that this is a missile attack,” a media outlet reported, though it did not initially offer additional information.
Context: Escalating Tensions and Recent Developments
This event takes place against a background of severely escalated strains in the Middle East. Major events preceding this strike include:

- Nuclear Talks: Latest talks between the United States and Iran on Tehran's atomic program concluded without a deal, with suggestions of more discussions scheduled.
- Official Rhetoric: Prior to the strike, a prominent American figure had labeled Iran as “the world’s number one sponsor of terror” and issued threats regarding its missile program.
- Ultimatum: Reportedly, a deadline of 10 to 15 days had been given to Iran to settle the nuclear dispute or confront severe consequences.
Reaction from Tehran
